On account of the storm yesterday was unable to make any note of the proceedings. It blew terrific. I must acknowledge I felt very nervous. How many times I did wish I could have had a female friend to speak to. My husband being on deck of course I was all alone.

It was been gradually moderating all day, thank God. This even it is tolerable fine weather. I suppose we shall soon be in the hatt of fine weather. Any way I don’t expect to see another such gale for some time. God grant we never may. We are now 820 miles from New York, not bad six days out. Split two of our best topsails, that is bad. Still I am very thankful no one was crippled.

One week out 960 miles off. Fine weather, men busily employed mending sails.

Another fine day but very little wind. Been very hot all night. Got up with a feverish headache, done little or no work in consequence. Better this evening. Made to noon this day 115 miles.

Splendid weather, only a summer squall occasionally. Made the small sum of 78 miles.

Weather fine, ship tolerably steady so was tempted to open out the machine expecting to find it defaced from the light lashings around it. Very please to find it all right without a blemish. Done some work but compelled to give up this afternoon, so much motion to the ship it makes my head dizzy. To noon made 109 miles.

Second Sunday at sea. Had a flying fish for my breakfast about the size of my three fingers, any way it was enough and very sweet. Weather very fine and hot, made 180 miles. Read some good books, tired my eyes and then retired at 9 p.m.

Another fine day. Done some work on the machine. Made 153 miles. This even almost calm, watching for a breeze. What a treat to be so long clear of fogs.

Been calm all night, made very little progress the last twenty four hours, only 58 miles. Got a little breeze now with a prospect of its increasing. Done a pretty good day’s work so went on deck this even to get a little of the fresh breeze. Splendid weather and a beautiful sunset. It is dark here now at half past five.

Weather still continues hot. Two weeks out today. Made to noon 108 miles. Not made so much as I anticipated on account of the head sea causing her to dive some.

Commences another fine day but head wind. This afternoon calm. 8 p.m. beginning of a light air. At noon 125 miles, not exactly our right course. One of the men caught me a fish so I presume I shall have it for my breakfast. It looks much like our porquis, but don’t happen to be one. Any way it’s fish, which is always acceptable to us.
